Public Health System with Mandatory Private Insurance for Expatriates
Kuwait has a public health system (Ministry of Health hospitals) predominantly for Kuwaiti citizens. Expatriate workers are required to obtain health insurance via their sponsor/employer. MOH hospitals charge expatriates fees.
Your employer (sponsor/kafeel) is responsible for arranging your health insurance. Without valid insurance you will be charged full private rates at government hospitals. Private hospitals such as Al-Razi, Royale Hayat, and Hadi Hospital cater to expatriates.
Insurers in Kuwait: Gulf Insurance Group Kuwait, Warba Insurance, Al Ahleia Insurance, AXA Kuwait. Annual employer plan cost: KWD 150-400.
